I recently purchased the midi din breakout adapter. After testing that adapter with the keyboard, the Xkey WAS blinking red when powered from wall power. However, it does NOT blink red from USB.

Yes. If you do not connect USB with computer but only power adaptor, it will be blinking slowly. It will not stop any feature but only show the USB MIDI was not detected by computer.
